Hi, I’m Maggie – the Grateful Overcomer

There were seasons when our home felt more like a place of survival than peace. Days marked by outbursts, nights filled with uncertainty, and a constant awareness that our child was struggling in ways the world couldn’t always see—or understand.

At one point, my husband and I made the most heartbreaking decision of our lives: to place our son in a residential treatment program far from home. It was a choice rooted not in giving up, but in fighting for healing when we could no longer do it alone.

That season changed everything.

It reshaped our family, stretched our faith, and revealed both the depth of our pain and the resilience God placed within us. Healing hasn’t been linear. It’s been messy, costly, and ongoing. But it has also been real.

Through it all, I’ve learned this:

Underneath the hard behaviors, there is always a child worth fighting for.

Underneath the brokenness, there is still beauty.

And even here—especially here—there is still so much to be grateful for.

I created The Grateful Overcomer to share that journey. To speak honestly about parenting, children’s mental health, faith, and the reality of walking through something you never planned.

This isn’t a place of perfection.

It’s a place of truth, hope, and quiet perseverance.
